Is the WARDOGS Playtest Still Open?

The announced public Open Beta window ended on 6 September 2026 at 08:00 UTC. The current official release path is the main WARDOGS Steam Early Access entry, not the separate Playtest entry.

A future test could be announced separately. Until an official post says otherwise, do not describe the old Playtest window as active or use its entitlement as proof that the live game is installed.

  • Last announced Open Beta end: 6 September 2026 at 08:00 UTC.
  • WARDOGS Early Access is live on the main Steam store entry.
  • A new official announcement is required before calling another test window open.

How Do I Play WARDOGS After the Beta?

Open the main WARDOGS store and library entry on Steam, install or update that game, and launch it from the current Early Access entry. Do not assume that the separate Playtest client is the released build.

If the main game reaches a login queue, cannot join a match or drops you back to the menu, use the current launch troubleshooting steps on the Server Status page and keep the exact message for reporting.

How to Sign Up for a Future WARDOGS Playtest

Use the official WARDOGS community sign-up page to register through Steam or Discord, wishlist WARDOGS on Steam and join the community server if you want to maximize your chance of hearing about future tests.

The page says slots are extremely limited. A sign-up records interest; it does not guarantee an invite, a Steam entitlement or access to the next build.

  • Use Steam for the game and Playtest entry shown on your account.
  • Use the community page for future Steam / Discord testing.
  • This wiki does not distribute beta keys.

What Does the “5 Bytes” Problem Mean?

Tiny downloads, a missing executable or a client that will not launch were reported around earlier test windows. That symptom alone does not prove a current server, entitlement or installation fault.

First confirm whether you are opening the main Early Access entry or the separate Playtest entry. Keep the exact Steam error text and check the latest official support discussion before applying an old beta workaround.

  • Do not treat a 5-byte download as proof that a future test invite has been granted.
  • Do not use an old beta workaround as an Early Access fix without current evidence.
